Friday 4th June:

#NB – STRAIT OF HORMUZ (3.45 Epsom Downs) – I tipped this horse t York the last day and I’m willing to give him another chance having finished midfield over 1m4f (both attempts at that trip ended in similar fashion) and he now takes a drop back to 1m2f where he was a winner three starts back off a mark of 88 in this grade and he had previously been beaten a neck on his only previous run over this trip. He’s 4lb higher than that and with form on both good and soft ground he won’t mind any rain which is forecast. Hollie Doyle is booked for the ride and if able to return to the form shown last Autumn then he’s a big player here this afternoon (trainer form is the slight concern). (6/1) – Unibet – 1ptLost (-1)

#NAP – ZEYAADAH (4.30 Epsom Downs) – This filly had won her first three starts, firstly in a maiden on the synthetics before scoring on turf debut at Beverley last September in a novice event when staying on well. She took a step forward on her last start in her two-year-old campaign when winning a listed event at HQ in desperate conditions, beating the subsequent Pretty Polly winner Mystery Angel by just over a length with the remainder much further behind. She tasted defeat for the first time when stepped up to the extended 1m3f on her first start of this season in the Cheshire Oaks, but that performance was of real promise having conceded 3lb to the winner Dubai Fountain (who re-opposes here) and she had given that rival a bit of a lead before staying-on powerfully through the line. Ground conditions should suit and I can see her reversing that form here and hopefully doing enough to get her head in front first for the Roger Varian stable who has a 25% strike-rate at this course. (9/2) – Bet365 – 1ptLost (-1)
