Saturday 3rd April:
#NAP – BARTON KNOLL (1.30 Haydock) – This nine-year old was a good fifth the last day in the Greatwood Gold Cup at Newbury when looking a real threat up the straight and jumped the last in the joint lead before weakening on the run-in to be beaten nine-lengths. That was his first run since winning at Doncaster at the end of November so possibly may have just needed that run. He’s been eased a pound which puts him 6lb higher than for that win on penultimate start and this is an easier assignment than last time. The ground could ideally be on the good side but he’s got a chance if building on that return run and the yard are in good form of late with their couple of runners. (5/1) – Bet365 – 1pt – Lost (-1)
#IWAC – ROSE OF AGHABOE (3.50 Haydock) – She ran well at Warwick the last day off this mark of 120 when possibly the 3m5f stretched her a bit and she’s now back down to the extended 2m5f here which on this galloping track might help and the ground will suit with her wins mostly coming on good, good-to-soft. Tabitha Worsley has a good rapport with this horse having won on her four times already this season (three chases and a jumpers bumper) and she claims a handy 5lb again here, she’s facing her toughest task to date but hopefully this mare can run her race off a nice weight. (10/1) – Bet365 – 0.5pt ew – Lost (-1)
