Friday 26th March:
#NAP – STORM GODDESS (2.05 Newbury) – This seven-year old unseated her rider at the second flight in last week’s Pertemps at the Cheltenham festival having seen significant market support just before the off and with a clear round here in a weaker race then she must have a solid chance. She won a good handicap off just 3lb lower back in November with the 154-rated Younevercall just behind and if running to a similar level here then a mark of 131 should be well within her range with Tom Buckley claiming a valuable 5lb. This good ground is exactly what she needs so I’m hoping she can gain her fourth career success here. (4/1) – Bet365 – 1pt – 2nd (-1)
#IWAC – DIAMOND STATE (3.05 Musselburgh) – Very unexposed on only his third start in handicaps, where he has placed on both previous efforts. His last five outings have all come at this course with four of those over this trip so clearly knows his way around here and despite no wins yet he’s ran well enough on a couple of occasions to suggest that a mark of 103 is within his reach. The last day he was ever so unlucky having virtually unseated his rider at the last but for a great recovery when in the lead and he did well to rally back for second with a couple of these in behind (the third Fisher Green won next time out), so with further progression likely on ground that will suit I think he could be overpriced, each-way places vary if you shop around. (8/1) – Sky Bet – 0.5pt ew – 4th (+1.3)
