Saturday 13th March:
#NAP – BELARGUS (3.35 Sandown) – A winner over a shorter trip here a month ago, he stayed on well and has twice ran well over this trip so should be fine. The horse he beat by nine-lengths won here on Friday and he had the well-fancied Numitor double that distance behind back in third. The form is there for this six-year old to improve further, the only problem might be the 9lb rise but he’s on the upgrade and Neil Houlihan can claim 5lb again, if in the same mood he’ll be right there at the business end. (4/1) – Bet365 – 1pt – Lost (-1)
#IWAC – HOLLYWOODIEN (4.02 Hereford) – This ten-year old won this contest last year and is only 3lb higher this time round. He was held in fifth the last day at Wetherby but that was his first start after a wind op so is entitled to come on for it now and the form of his previous third off 3lb higher at Sandown is looking strong with Ibleo, Paddy’s Poem & Moonlighter all scoring since. Aidan Coleman is back in the saddle which is a positive having won twice on the gelding previously. (5/1) – Bet365 – 1pt – 2nd (-1)
#NB – VERSATILITY (4.10 Sandown) – Unseated his rider on chase debut back in August but has improved since. After finishing fifth at Bangor he won nicely at Ludlow before finishing a close second behind a good horse in St Barts at Newbury, staying-on strongly through the line suggesting this stiffer finish would suit and there was a subsequent winner in behind. He’s 3lb higher now but having had wind surgery since that run he could well benefit from this, conditions to suit and this seven-year old holds solid claims for Nicky Henderson. (4/1) – Bet365 – 1pt – Lost (-1)
