Saturday 27th February:

#NAP – ECCO (1.15 Kempton) – Was a good second on his penultimate start in a C&D handicap and has since won on the polytrack here in a ‘jumper’s bumper’. Prior to that second he was awarded the race at Doncaster after the first-past-the-post was disqualified (was held that day) and although 2lb higher than for both of those this return to good ground will suit and I think he’s got a good chance as the form of his third off this mark in a higher grade at Ascot behind Buzz and Rosie And Millie reads well. (11/2) – William Hill – 1pt2nd (-1)

#IWAC – CLONDAW CASTLE (3.35 Kempton) – This nine-year old has been mostly consistent over the past few seasons and his record under rules reads well with seven wins from 19 starts and this season he has shown his best form. He ended last term with a win at Warwick off a mark of 143 and after a close second in the Old Roan on return he won at Newbury off 151. He’s 3lb higher now but takes a step up to 3m for the first time under rules and that could bring out more improvement as he won a point-to-point at this trip. The better ground will help him see the trip out and his last two runs has seen him finish second and third in Grade 2 chases. Certainly an each-way shout at double-figure odds with five places available. (10/1) – William Hill – 0.5pt ew (5 places)WON (+7)

Stake: 2pts

February P/L: -3.8pts

Overall P/L (Sept ’17-present): +571.15pts
