Sunday 21st February:
#IWAC – HAWTHORN COTTAGE (1.30 Market Rasen) – Front-runner who looked like she was going to win the same Doncaster race she’d won 12-months prior when trying to run the finish out of the field before being headed approaching the last. She was placed 8th after the jockey failed to weigh-in and off the same mark here I think she’s slightly overpriced if able to dictate again under 5lb-claimer Lucy Barry who is her regular pilot (three wins on her). She’s 2lb higher than for her last win and the ground conditions are fine, she’s certainly worth an each-way bet as you should get a good run for your money hopefully. (9/1) – William Hill – 0.5pt ew (4 places) – Lost (-1)
#NAP – GAMESTERS ICON (4.52 Uttoxeter) – Four-time winner on the flat (was rated 77 last autumn) and after a hat-trick of third placed efforts in novice hurdles (was disqualified in the first of those due to the jockey not weighing in) this six-year now steps into handicap company off a workable mark of 102. She’s shown that she handles testing ground having won all flat starts on soft/heavy as well as though placed efforts over hurdles which also came on ground with plenty of give. Ross Turner (who has ridden her on last three stars) claims 5lb again which means she’s carrying the least weight in the field and I can see her going well this afternoon. (11/2) – William Hill – 1pt – 2nd (-1)
