Saturday 20th February:
#NAP – DEMACHINE (1.50 Ascot) – Was progressing well for Kerry Lee before finishing third at Newbury in a decent handicap, had Severano a place behind and though worse off at the weights here I think he’ll confirm the form with him such a sound jumper and he has a previous C&D win to his name. Ground conditions are fine and connections are really fond of this son of Flemensfirth, he’s deserving of stepping up to graded company and he should go well. (7/2) – William Hill – 1pt – 2nd (-1)
#NB – EVERGLOW (3.50 Haydock) – Third in a listed bumper before finding the Grade 2 Persian War on hurdling debut a bit too hot when well beaten (race won by McFabulous). He chased home the progressive Star Gate next time before winning well in a maiden hurdle at Ascot over 2m5f on soft ground. He made his handicap debut the last day when finishing seventh of 20 in the listed Lanzarote Hurdle and with him unexposed in this sphere I can certainly see there being more to come and this step up in trip could bring about more improvement, Ben Jones is booked and takes 3lb off the six-year old’s back with his claim and I can see him going close here. (11/2) – Bet365 – 1pt – 3rd (-1)
#IWAC – FEVERTRE (5.08 Wincanton) – Was second in his sole point on heavy ground and though comfortably beaten on all three starts over hurdles in maiden/novice events there was some encouragement in the most recent of those when keeping on over a shorter trip into eighth. This step up in trip should suit on handicap debut, the ground conditions should be fine and Lorcan Williams claims a handy 3lb. He’s an each-way play with five/six places on offer if you shop around. (10/1) – William Hill – 0.5pt ew (5 places) – 4th (+1.5)
