Thursday 18th February:
#NB – NO GETAWAY (3.05 Sandown) – I thought he ran well at Newbury last time out when weakening after the second last over almost 3m (previously held over that trip) at Newbury behind St Barts so a drop back to 2m4f looks the right move. He’s undergone a wind op since that run and this unexposed chaser could be lurking on a lenient mark, if the surgery has done the trick he’s got a chance for the Skelton’s who can do no wrong of late (27% strike-rate in the past fortnight). (11/2) – Bet365 – 1pt – WON (+6.5)
#NAP – HIGHEST SUN (4.15 Sandown) – Ran well in the Tommy Whittle last time out when not seeing out the extended 3m1f, he’s dropped a pound for that and back slightly in trip. He looks ahead of his mark in my opinion, a previous fourth at Newbury against stronger opposition was good form too, he’ll handle the ground fine the worry would be the form of trainer Colin Tizzard but other than that he should be very competitive off this mark of 133 which is 7lb lower than when seventh in the novice handicap chase at last year’s festival. Previously finished third behind Champ and Dashel Drasher off level weights beaten just over four-lengths. (7/2) – Bet365 – 1pt – Lost (-1)
