Friday 1st January:

#NAP – SEBASTOPOL (1.20 Musselburgh) – Won over the minimum trip last February off 4lb lower mark and this step up in trip could bring about more improvement. Finished just worse than midfield in a listed event at Newbury won by Floressa on only start this season, that would’ve blown away cobwebs and this ground will suit. Tom Lacey has only ever had one runner here which of course was this horse who won, should be right there. Kaizer may also run his race at a better price. (7/2) – Bet365 – 1ptLost (-1)

#NB – COOL MIX (3.05 Musselburgh) – Very open handicap chase but it’s the eight-year old of Iain Jardine who I like the look of. He’s been in good form this season so far with three placed efforts and a win from his four outings. That win came at Wetherby in October off 6lb lower and the form of his two runs since looks good, he was third in this race last year and though 5lb higher I’d like to think he’ll go well with conditions to suit. (5/1) – Betfred – 1pt3rd (-1)

Stake: 2pts

January P/L: 0pts

Overall P/L (Sept ’17-present): +576.45pts
