Thursday 28th December, 2017

With Chepstow abandoned on Wednesday I only had the #Nb on here and he was a held third. Here are my three for Thursday as we move ever closer to the year’s end!

Thursday 28th December:

#NAP – GOLDEN INVESTMENT (2.40 Catterick Bridge) – Grade-dropper arrives here on the back of a solid fourth in a class 2 and this looks way less demanding. Won on penultimate start at Wetherby in similar conditions off a 6lb lower mark and his trainer continues to bang in the winners. Looks overpriced. (9/2) – Bet365 – 5pt – Lost

#NB – LITTLE JON (1.55 Leicester) – Won a class 2 chase two years ago off a mark of 137 over this trip on soft ground and now gets to run off a mark of just 123. Latest fifth reads well in better company with the winner going in again since. Will enjoy the testing conditions and this is Nigel Twiston-Davies’ only runner of the day and he’s booked his son Sam for the ride (also his only action). Comes with risks as hasn’t won for over two years but this is easier than past exploits and is worth a chance. (5/1) – Bet365 – 3pt – N/R

#IWAC – CHIEFTAIN’S CHOICE (3.40 Leicester) – Returns hurdling after a few fair efforts in novice chases in the summer off what’s a tempting mark now against easier opposition than when last seen over timber. Performed admirably in the spring at Aintree when second behind Chesterfield in a 0-140, now back in a 0-125 his last crack at this level was when beaten a head at Hexham off a 2lb lower mark. Has won twice in testing conditions and talented conditional Mitchell Bastyan takes off a valuable 5lb here, could go well. (15/2) – Sky Bet – 1pt ew – N/R

Stake: 10pts

P/L: +34.7pts
