A close call for the Nap on Thursday, perhaps the wide draw was his undoing beaten half a length. An EW place on the IWAC at 15/2, finishing a good second behind a big improver was the only return. Hoping to get back in the winner’s on Friday, here are my three.

Friday 8th September:

#NAP – CALDER PRINCE (4.10 Haydock) – Has a good record at this venue with two wins from five starts, also placing twice. Was a good second here two starts back and races off the same mark. Likes to dictate things from the front and no obvious other front runners in the field is positive as he could run the finish out of them dropping back in trip. Trainer/jockey have good strike-rate here and Richard Kingscote does well when riding from the front. (11/4) – Bet365 – 5pt – Lost

#NB – GAWDAWPALIN (4.25 Ascot) – Another horse with good course form. His last two starts (both here) have seen a victory and a close second. He gets in here off the same mark and is better off at the weights with Great Hall for that defeat the last day. Will enjoy the cut in the ground and with usual hold up tactics the possibility of a strongly run race will be beneficial to his chances here. (7/2) – Bet365 – 3pt – Lost

#IWAC – HIGH ON LIGHT (4.45 Haydock) – A very consistent filly who has only failed to be outside the first three just once in her last thirteen starts on both turf/all-weather. She’s been raised 4lbs for latest victory over C&D a month ago but she’s clearly in great heart so I’m happy to follow again. The softer ground a plus and should be up with the pace, I’d be surprised if she doesn’t place or better. (6/1) – Bet365 – 1pt ew – Lost

Stake: 10pts

P/L: +32pts
